Our History

Monte Tolar (on the right) with our current President Elvis. Monte passed away in 2010.

Our club was founded in 1994 by Monte Tolar who passed away in 2010.  (pictured above on the right with current President Elvis).   Our main event of the year, Mudbug Ball,  was first held in 2002. Through last year, total donations from this one annual event total approximately $100,000. Organizations benefiting include: Jerry's Kids, Texas Children's Hospital, Ronald McDonald House, Citizens for Animal Protection (CAPs), The DeGeorge House, YES Prep Academy, and The Sunshine Kids. Other endeavors of the club include Galveston beach cleanups, road cleanups, Race for the Cure, donations to the Houston Zoo, Save the Manatee, Dolphin Rescue, Special Pals, Smiling Dog Farm, and others. Our Toys for Tots donations through the years must add up in the tens of thousands of dollars. Houston PHC spawned two additional Parrot Head Clubs, Galveston Bay Parrothead Club (GBPHC) and 5 O'Clock Phlock.

Our Mission

The Houston Parrot Head Club and Parrot Heads in Paradise are not-for-profit organizations for people who enjoy Jimmy Buffett's music and possess a tropical spirit. Our function is to provide members with social activities and to be involved with community service, as well as charitable and environmental causes.

In other words, Party with a Purpose.
